INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGYInformation and comunication technology is part of the regular timetable for all classes, and use is made of the school's computers to practise specific skills with individual children. In addition to a dedicated computer suite, all classes have access to their own computer and the school has a bank of wireless laptop computers. The school uses a modern server-based network of Apple Macintosh equipment, extensively supported with relevant educational software. When appropriate, there is supervised broadband access to the internet through a leading cyber-patrolled specialist educational ISP. This also provides links to the National Grid for Learning and thence to other teaching resources. We are proud to be at the leading edge in ICT and all classrooms other than Nursery i.e. 4 and older are fitted with interactive whiteboards. This allows teachers to use the most up to date technology and resources to supplement their lessons. |

SCIENCEScience is taught throughout the school and children from Nursery onwards are introduced to scientific principles. The children are encouraged to observe, make hypotheses and conduct investigations. At the end of Key Stage 2 all children are assessed in Science in the national SATs. |

PHYSICAL EDUCATIONAll children have regular sessions of gymnastics and games under the guidance of our specialist teachers. The school has its own all weather and floodlit sports pitch, and team games are also played using the sports facilities and pitches nearby in Dover House Road. In addition to the sport offered within the curriculum, there are a number of clubs before and after school to encourage the children to be active and involved. The school regularly plays fixtures against other schools in the area and all children have the opportunity to take part and represent the school. |

MUSICMusic is a strong part of school life at Prospect House. The school has a full time Director of Music and a number of appropriately qualified part-time specialist instrumental teachers. From an early age children may, as an option, learn to play a musical instrument. These include the piano, recorder, clarinet, flute, oboe, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, French horn, violin, cello and classical guitar. Alongside the more traditional methods of learning, where appropriate, the Suzuki method is also used. Many of the children learning individual instruments will become members of the school orchestra. The school has three choirs and is very proud of the standards they have attained, including success in national competitions, an excellent achievement for a small school. Every child takes part in a musical performance and every year at Christmas there is an inspiring carol service held at the local parish church. The school holds regular musical evenings, when even the most recent beginner can perform new-found musical skills in public. |
