Happy Christmas!

This term has flown by and we have enjoyed many exciting activities in school. It has been incredibly busy as we have enjoyed music concerts, sports fixtures, school trips, class assemblies, a nativity play and our wonderful carol concerts. The children have worked very hard and I am extremely proud of their hard work and enthusiasm. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you back at school on Wednesday 9 January 2019!

Gingerbread Decorating in the Lower School

This week, the children in the Lower School had their turn to decorate gingerbread men. They thoroughly enjoyed sticking on sweets to make faces, clothes and patterns; I wonder if they tasted a few along the way! There were big smiles all round as the children took their unique and colourful creations home with them. A big thank you for the parents who organised and ran this fantastic, festive treat.

Stunning Sewing Club Quilt

The children attending sewing club this term have had a wonderful time creating this stunning quilt. Each child designed their own creature and selected the colours they wanted to use. Mrs Kosmider helped them interpret their designs onto fabric before the chldren embellished their animal with beads, threads and buttons. The quilt will be displayed in the Upper School next term.

Sharing Christmas Stories

The children in Years 3 and 5 had a lovely morning on Wednesday, when they shared the Christmas stories they had written. They took great pride in reading their compositions, discussing new vocabulary and helping their peers to improve their writing.

Christmas Lunch!

Christmas lunch was enjoyed by children in both the Upper and Lower Schools on Tuesday. The Christmas spirit was well and truly alive with crackers, paper hats and silly jokes; the food was delicious! Thank you, chefs!

Lower School Computing Club

Over the past term, the children attending the Lower School Computing club have used an online Bee Bot Emulator to learn control and programming. This involved a lot of practice writing algorithms, identifying bugs, and debugging their programs. They then moved on to creating mazes and programming the Bee Bots to move around them. They also raced other Bee Bots, decorated in masks which the children had made, which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Guitar Ensemble

The Upper School was treated to a wonderful concert this morning. The children played extremely well and their choice of music put the audience in a suitably festive mood.

A Celebration of Christmas in Words and Music

What a wonderful evening! Many congratulations to everyone involved in this week’s wonderful Upper School Carol Service. The soloist sang beautifully, the orchestra played wonderfully, the readings were clear and confident and the singing was simply superb. Every child was totally focused and I am sure that everyone in the congregation was moved by the performances. An enormous thank you to Mr Baker for his hard work in ensuring the service was a great success. Many thanks also to you, the parents, for your incredible generosity: the collection raised over £1,000 for Sarcoma UK.

Christmas Party Time!

The Christmas festivities continued into Wednesday afternoon when the children enjoyed their class parties. Great fun was had by all as they crafted reindeer headbands from paper and pins, and played games which involved precision and skill – and eating more sugar!

Christmas Jumpers!

Reindeer, penguins, snowmen, sparkles and lots of different pictures of Father Christmas adorned the jumpers worn into school today. Assembly was a riot of colour! Many thanks for helping to spread some Christmas cheer.

Grand Designs

Thank you for this fantastic model of a Tudor house, and for bringing it to school to share with 4R.

Congratulations!

Many congratulations on passing your Grade 4 piano exam, with distinction.

Santa Claus Came to Town!

Santa Claus took time out of his busy schedule on Wednesday to visit the children in the Lower School. As a special treat, he brought gifts with him for all of the children. They loved meeting Santa and also got the chance to ask him questions. Thank you, Santa; it was great to meet you!
