Theatre Tots

Nursery and Reception had a fabulous time when Theatre Tots visited them this week. There was lots of audience participation and the children had great fun. Theatre Tots invited Year 1 and Year 2 to join Nursery and Reception for their final show, A Trip around the Planets.

Thanksgiving!

Reception children were interested to learn about Thanksgiving. Ms Farrell came into class and spoke to the children about how Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. The children enjoyed looking at her Native American headdress and ate some delicious homemade pumpkin muffins. Thank you very much Ms Farrell. Happy Thanksgiving!

Year 5 Recognise 3-D Shapes

This week, children in Year 5 investigated the properties and features of many 3-D shapes. They looked at a wide variety of different examples, noting how many faces, edges and vertices each had.

Christmas Fair Competition Winners

There was great excitement at the Lower School as the winners were announced of the Christmas Fair competitions.

Happy Chanukah!

Ms Lane talked to the Reception children about the Jewish holiday Chanukah. She read a story and explained the symbolism behind the Canukiah. The children tried homemade potato latkes. They were delicious! Thank you, Ms Lane, and Happy Chanukah!

Boys’ Cross Country Competition

The Year 3-6 cross country teams produced wonderful performances to finish in the top three teams, for the first time ever, in the Hall School cross coutry event. The Year 4 and Year 6 teams ran magnificently, winning silver medals. Well done, boys!

Nursery Christmas Concert

Nursery treated us to a fantastic concert today! They confidently sang an array of Christmas songs and hung up their home-made decorations on the Christmas tree. The children did an amazing job for their first-ever performance at Prospect House in front of their friends and family. Very well done, Nursery!

Taking the Classroom Home!

Some children in Year 4 enjoyed what they were learning so much in school that they decided to continue their learning at home!

Barnardo’s Advent Concert at Southwark Cathedral

The Year children 2 had the privilege of performing in the Barnardo’s Infant Advent concert at Southwark cathedral on Thursday. As well as singing in the massed choir with other schools, they gave a beautiful rendition of As we wait for Christmas Day. It was a very exciting day, with family and friends joining the congregation in the afternoon. Very well done to all the children and a huge thank you to all the staff involved.

4S Class Assembly

In their class assembly, 4S explored the pressing issue of the plastic pollution problem. The children impressed the audience with their facts on how much plastic is making its way into our oceans. Motivated by saving our planet, the children of 4S hope that their message was heard and will inspire others to take more care of our planet, including being more mindful when buying single-use plastic. Well done, 4S; you were fantastic!

Lower School Fencing Competition

Lower school fencing club had their first-ever competition. The children showed great sportsmanship and enthusiam. Well done to those children who won a medal!

Hysterical History!

4R learnt all about how the Spanish Armada tried (and failed) to invade England. The children were fantastic in showing their understanding of the events that unfolded during this period of time through story telling, along with the use of pencil puppets. Every group’s performance was informative yet entertaining and some even had their teacher, Miss Rosario, in fits of laughter!

Thank You, PROFS!

An ENORMOUS thank you to the PROFS Christmas Fair organisers, Mrs Beeson, Mrs Leppard, Mrs English, Mrs Parkins, Mrs Nikpay, Mrs Breese and Mrs Hordley. I am sure you will agree that they did an amazing job organising a wonderful day. Huge thanks are also sent to all the PROFS reps and parents who helped with individual stalls, activities, sourcing raffle prizes, etc. The fair raised an amazing £7,500; all proceeds will be donated to the Albaraca Nursery, which will make an enormous difference to the lives of the children there. Thank you, everyone!
