Music in Reception

Reception children have been learning to play different rhythms, whilst singing their special pizza-making song. They have also used scarves to combine body movement and spoken rhyme. Their musicality is developing nicely!

Poetry in Motion

On Tuesday, a group of Year 6 children attended an inspiring poetry workshop, led by poet Neal Zetter. In the morning, they wrote their own personification poem from the perspective of the poem itself. The children then created poems, in groups, which they subsequently performed. Their creativity and confidence blew us away!

Reception H children - Bring a Relative to Read

Children in Reception H thoroughly enjoyed sharing their favourite reading books with their parents, relatives and carers. There was definitely a buzz of excitement in the classroom and it was a wonderful way for the children to develop a passion for reading.

Thank you to all those who attended the Reception H ‘Bring a Relative to Read’ afternoon.

Year 5 children have been using a wide variety of resources to experiment with probability and chance. They have calculated the probability of certain situations occurring and have even looked at scenarios involving changing variables.

Spatial Reasoning

In Year 5 we have also been working on developing visualisation skills. The children have used resources that help them to visualise rotations, reflections and flips, and they have enjoyed sharing tips on how to solve spatial reasoning puzzles.

Picnic in the Hollow

Nursery L children enjoyed hosting a picnic for their parents last Friday. In preparation, they created special geode sun catchers to hang up in The Hollow, lovely decorations that also provide food for the wild animals over the winter season. The children loved showing parents their creations as well as some of the activities they undertake in The Hollow. Due to the adverse weather conditions, picnics had to be eaten in the hall rather than outside; but the rain did nothing to dampen everyone’s spirits!

Cardboard Creations!

An enormous thank you to the family members of 5S who joined us on Thursday to take part in our cardboard creations afternoon. The competitive teams worked incredibly hard to create some of London’s most famous landmarks. Big Ben was a popular choice, but we were also delighted to see the most important landmark of all: Prospect House School!

Getting Physical with Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

Miss Cross’ Year 3 maths group had a physical work-out this week when learning about parallel and perpendicular lines. Can you spot which lines they are making in the photos?

Our Wonderful Open Morning Volunteers

A big thank you to the wonderful volunteers who helped at our open morning last Saturday. The children were kept extremely busy as they showed a stream of parents of prospective pupils around the school. We received lots of excellent feedback about how positive, polite, informative and confident the children were. Well done, and thank you!

It's a Girl!

Many congratulations to Layla and her partner Lee on the birth of their daughter, Lilah, who arrived on 5 October, weighing 7lbs 2oz.  Mother and baby and doing well.

Girls Football Club

The girls hosted a match against Sinclair House after school on Thursday. The performances were highly encouraging and showed how much the girls have been continuing to develop their technical skills and positional awareness. The ‘A’ team won 3-0 and the ‘B’ team lost 3-0. Well played, girls!

Year 4 Eaton Square Football Tournament

Including a 3-0 victory over Sussex House School, the boys played well to finish second in their group of five and thus progress to the next stage of the tournament. Despite playing some excellent football in the pool stage, chances were not converted and PHS ended with a draw and two defeats. A final position of eighth (of 30) was highly commendable.

Year 5 Girls Epsom College Tournament

The girls thoroughly enjoyed their first taste of a big netball tournament. One of 17 teams, the girls came second in the group stage, winning 2-1 against both Knightsbridge School and Thomas’ Battersea whilst losing 4-1 to the Roche. In the second round of matches, their netball really blossomed, with some superb passing down the wing and consistently accurate shooting. PHS finished an excellent seventh. Well done, girls – this was a fantastic result.

Years 5 and 6 Wandsworth Cross-Country Competition

There was much excitement and anticipation amongst the children as Prospect House entered this event for the first time. With 70 – 90 runners in each race, the PHS children produced some exceptional performances, finishing in impressive positions in both the boys’ and girls’ races.
