Prospect Post
Well done, Nursery - What a Wonderful First Full Week in School!

The children in the Nursery have settled into life at Prospect House amazingly well. They have immersed themselves in all aspects of school life, experiencing not only activities in the classroom and outdoor classroom, but also the enhanced curriculum offered by the specialist PE, music and French teachers. A very busy week has been had by all: playing games focusing on turn-taking and early pattern recognition; ‘Feely Phonics’ – sorting objects beginning with the focus phonic of the week; undertaking imaginary play activities in the pizzeria; introducing and exploring the Montessori activities that focus on ordering by size; investigating The Hollow to find ingredients to add to dishes prepared in the mud kitchen; and being introduced to ‘Meddy Teddy’, who performed various yoga poses related to the sound of the week that the children copied. The Nursery staff have been extremely impressed with the children’s participation in all activities and the independence they have shown. Congratulations, Nursery, on such a positive start to school.

Hunting in the Hollow

Reception children have had great fun hunting for leaves in The Hollow. Having collected and studied the different shapes and colours of the leaves, they have created two ‘necklaces’ for the trees. Great job, Reception!

Year 5 Reading Challenge

Year 5 children were set a challenge for their first English homework: to read to someone – or something – else. They did a terrific job sharing their love of reading with their siblings, parents and even pets!

Spatial Reasoning

This week, Year 5 have used a variety of resources to aid their visualisation of rotations, flips, reflections and aerial views. These skills are extremely useful in many strands of NVR and mathematical problem solving.

The Journey of a Firework - A Descriptive Piece of Writing from a Year 4 Pupil
I was the final firework of the night. A thousand gloomy eyes watched me and expected me to do something but I did not know what. I did not know what I was destined for. A man approached me with a match in his hand. He lit it and then kept moving towards me. I thought he was mad! He leant down and lit my rear but then it kept moving towards my body. I started to fizz. Was this what I was destined for? I watched as my friends went into the sky and then I went up. I felt bit by bit gravity failing me but then I jumped and flew into the sky.
I felt a weird sensation. My body emptied and then I knew this is what I’m meant for. This is my destiny. Just then I started to shiver and BANG! I exploded with shiny flashes of gold, red and blue. Giving birth to young that exploded around me and I had a second and bigger explosion which gave out a golden glittery spray. Below me I heard wows! and gasps, as I slowly faded away. That is why when I was so confused and worried but I turned out to be amazing!
