After some super secret planning, Year 6 were surprised with a trip to London’s West End for the new production of Oliver!. Reimagined by Cameron Mackintosh and Matthew Bourne, the performance was incredible, and the children loved seeing the characters come alive on the stage, hearing them sing, and even improvise after a prop mishap (this was a particular highlight for the audience!).
When discussing the performance with the children afterwards, they couldn’t stop smiling and were so grateful for the opportunity. Rehearsals for their version of this musical have since have been injected with a newfound inspiration! A special thanks to Mrs Gray for giving this opportunity to the children (and for the interval ice creams!).
All staff on the trip were so impressed with the children’s attitude and behaviour on the trip; they were great ambassadors for Prospect House and it was a privilege to see the joy of theatre through their eyes. For anyone that has missed out on seeing Oliver! thus far, Year 6’s production hits the theatre (Upper School Hall) on the evenings of 1 and 2 July!
