Throughout the spring term, Year 6 have taken part in three financial literacy workshops focusing on the history of money, banking and corporate finance and will be taking part in further workshops which deal with budgeting, insurance, investing and trading. To apply and practise their developing financial skills, the children are currently taking part in an exciting £10 Entrepreneurial Challenge where they have the opportunity to design, make, advertise, market and sell products or services of their own concoction.

On Monday morning, each of our entrepreneurial teams met with Mrs Gray, our headteacher, and Mr Hawkins, the father of two former pupils and the CEO of Tenent Financial Education. Mrs Gray and Mr Hawkins provided a corporate clinic where they offered advice and tips on how the keen young entrepreneurs could fine tune or diversify their business plans and ideas. Each team then received £10 seed capital per person which they will use to get their businesses up and running.

We look forward to having our eager young entrepreneurs adapting their businesses and selling their products throughout the summer term. There will also be an Entrepreneurial Fair and a thrilling Dragon’s Den event to further excite and equip these young entrepreneurs with the skills they will require for the cut and thrust of the business world. Go, Year 6, go!
