Our Year 2 pupils had a fantastic time during their Great Fire of London workshop, immersing themselves in life during 1666. Their journey began on Cheapside Street where the children were introduced to the different jobs they would undertake during the day: from candle-making and using a mortar and pestle to create soap, to leatherwork and writing letters to the King using ink quills.
In between their tasks at the various shops, the fire progressed through London and the children had to work together to use buckets of water and fire hooks in an attempt to stop the fire. During the afternoon session, Year 2 throughly enjoyed excavating and examining different artefacts to try and work out which shop they belonged to and how it may have been destroyed during the fire.
