Independent School in Putney & Wandsworth

Described in 1903 as “one of the pleasantest of the London suburbs” by J. C. Geike, we’re pleased to report that Putney still delivers over 100 years later.

Many have called the leafy, riverside district of Wandsworth home, including Richard Branson, Grace Jones, and Thomas Cromwell.

At Prospect House School, we hope to foster the next generation of talent and serve families across Putney, Wandsworth, Roehampton, Barnes and Wimbledon. A co-educational school teaching children aged 3 to 11, Nursery to Year 2 is based at our Lower School location at 76 Putney Hill, while Years 3 to 6 are based at 75 Putney Hill a short walk away.

This page explains exactly where to find us, how to get here, and the local areas we serve, along with links to book a visit or explore our Nursery and Prep School.

Where We Are Located

Prospect House has two sites, both on Putney Hill, an 8-minute walk apart from one another:

Site  Age Range  Address
Lower School  Nursery – Year 2  76-78 Putney Hill, London SW15 6RB
Upper School  Year 3 – Year 6  75 Putney Hill, London SW15 3NT

Keeping both sites close together means siblings can be dropped off within minutes of each other, and children move seamlessly from our Wandsworth-based Nursery at the Lower School to the Upper School as they grow.

Areas We Serve

We welcome families from across southwest London, with the largest number travelling from Putney, Wandsworth and Roehampton.

Many families also come from Barnes, Wimbledon, Southfields, East Putney and the streets around Putney Heath, and a number cross Putney Bridge from Fulham each morning.

Wherever you are moving from, our two sites on Putney Hill put us within easy reach of most of southwest London’s family neighbourhoods.

For the Upper School, there is an in-and-out driveway so parents can drive in, drop off and then drive off again. On-street parking near Putney Hill is limited, so please be considerate of our neighbours if you do drive.

Local Area and Community

Putney Hill sits right on the edge of Putney Heath, with Wimbledon Common just beyond it, giving our children easy access to green space for forest school, sport and weekend walks.

Putney High Street, with its shops, cafes and the River Thames, is a short bus ride away, and families often combine a school visit with a walk along the river.

Prospect House also sits within easy reach of leading senior school destinations, including St Paul’s, King’s College Wimbledon, Godolphin & Latymer and Latymer Upper, all regular destinations for our Year 6 leavers.

Nursery and Prep School in Putney

Our Nursery, based at the Lower School on Putney Hill, welcomes children from age 3 into a happy, individualised start to school life. Our Early Years curriculum incorporates elements of different learning approaches, such as the Curiosity Approach, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori. This is alongside a semi-structured timetable which enables children to lead their own learning experience and heighten their development.

Families searching for a nursery in Putney or a nursery in Wandsworth are welcome to book a visit through our admissions team and see the Lower School for themselves.

From Year 3, children move to the Upper School for the remainder of Prep School, through to Year 6 and the move to senior school. Our pupils follow our advanced preparatory curriculum, where independence is nurtured from the beginning. Alongside traditional subjects like English and Mathematics, we have specialised teachers for art & design technology, computing, drama, French, Latin, music, and sport.
