Sustainability and care for the environment are important topics here at Prospect House so it has been fabulous to see everyone enjoying the all the activities on offer in Sustainability Week. It has been great to bring into focus key environmental issues and highlight the change that our actions can make.
Eco-Committee got the week off to a flying start with their assembly on Monday morning followed by an engaging workshop on Tuesday where the children learnt about endangered underwater animals and how they can protect them together. Throughout the week, each year group researched a specific endangered animal and created a poster design to raise awareness. In art lessons, the children used recycled plastic bottle to produce amazing sculpture pieces.
Even the activities in wraparound care followed the sustainability theme! The children focussed on sustainable crafts during the week: making wildflower plant pots out of recycled yoghurt pots and creating bird feeders out of oranges (doubling up as a yummy snack for the children to enjoy). It was a great way to repurpose everyday items to reduce our own waste!
