Year 2 had a wonderful time on their recent trip to Kew Gardens, made even better by the glorious sunshine! The children were full of excitement as they explored the many interactive areas of the Children’s Garden.
A highlight of the day was a hands-on workshop, where the children took on the role of nature detectives to solve a curious mystery: what had eaten an insect? Using special equipment, they investigated the trees and grass, searching for clues among the minibeasts. After careful observation and discussion, the children came to a conclusion—the insect hadn’t been eaten by an animal, but by a plant! Their investigation led them to the conservatory, where they learned all about carnivorous plants and met the fascinating Venus flytrap, the real “culprit” behind the mystery.
