Year 2 had a special session with Mrs Belshaw to celebrate their journey through the Lower School. Together, they reflected on the school values—kindness, community, respect, aspiration, and resilience—and discussed how these are more than just school rules; they are life skills to carry with wherever we go! The children talked about the importance of leadership, particularly in their roles as community captains and recipients of Values Awards.
To deepen understanding, Year 2 reflected on the story Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. The children explored how people can “fill each other’s buckets” by showing kindness and living out the school values every day. They also had honest conversations about times when they may have been “bucket dippers” and didn’t act as kindly as they could have, and what they could do to make sure they are always “bucket fillers”!
Year 2 ended their time with Mrs Belshaw by positively reflecting on everything they do for each other and how they continue to build strong, respectful relationships. It was a meaningful way to mark the end of this chapter and the beginning of the next exciting step!
