Over the past four weeks, the newly appointed Year 6 UNICEF Ambassadors have met multiple times to strategise how the school planning to publicise and weave the articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into school life. Last week, the ambassadors delivered the first of three termly assemblies which have been planned to demonstrate the link between certain important themes and the UNCRC articles. This week, the assembly focused on Black History Month and our ambassadors made reference to UNCRC articles 2 and 30 as they presented to their peers and teachers about many outstanding achievements of black individuals throughout British and world history.

Next month, the ambassadors will be delivering further assemblies on the themes of International Day of Disabilities and Human Rights Day, and there are many other exciting events planned for the spring term including an exciting UNICEF Rights Respecting Day. Prospect House has recently achieved bronze status as a rights respecting school. Here’s to continuing our journey towards silver status as we make children’s rights more visible and accessible to all!
