Over the past two months, Year 6 have taken part in a number of financial literacy workshops which have focused on saving, budgeting, investing, trading and corporate finance. Following on from this, the children are currently applying many of their sprouting financial skills in a £10 entrepreneurial challenge where they have the opportunity to plan, create, market, advertise and sell their own products.

Just before half term, the children held their very own Year 6 Entrepreneurial Fair at school where they had the opportunity to vie for the custom of their parents, teachers and classmates. The children demonstrated impressive effort and initiative, as well as blossoming teamwork and communication skills, to prepare their products and stalls so as to provide an attractive sales experience for their eager and appreciative customers.

The next stage of this exciting initiative will involve the children pitching their businesses to a panel of discerning judges in a thrilling Dragon’s Den scenario. Go, Year 6, go!
